Tonight we virtually taught Kirby how to Drop It and Leave It. At first he struggled with Leave It because he was so focused on the food in our hand and he wouldn't offer us eye contact. But by the end of the session he was looking at us, even as food was dropped on the floor. Good job! Our first virtual training session went pretty well. We taught Ralphie how to Wait patiently for his food to be put down. We then taught him Stay. He did well with Duration and Distance, but struggled when we went out of sight. Ralphie has only been in his new home a few weeks since his previous owner passed away, so we have to continue to build up his confidence. Tucker was awesome learning Drop It and Leave It. We practiced with food, paper towels, and slippers and he passed all his tests! Cooper is a very sweet, 6-month old Doberman Pinscher/Labrador Retriever mix. He needs some help learning his manners, especially walking without pulling. Stay tuned for his progress. Bear did great learning how to walk without pulling. We also worked with Brutus, his Beagle-mix brother who doesn't get walked because he pulls too much. But after just a few minutes of clicking and treating for behavior that we liked Brutus was paying more attention to us and he began to walk really well. Tucker, at just 17-weeks old, learned how to Go to Bed as well as Stay. With these newly acquired skills he can go to his spot and stay while we are working in the kitchen, sitting down to eat, or while people are coming in or going out the door. Well done, Tucker!
