Recently, Daisy has begun refusing to jump into the car. She is a young, apparently healthy dog that should have no physical problem jumping in, but we still focused on making it easier for her. We started by opening both rear doors of the Jeep so the space didn't look so enclosed. We then lured her with treats onto the floor instead of the higher seat. In no time she gained confidence and began jumping in and out without a problem. We then tried the same procedure with a much higher truck and we had the same positive result!
Jay Jay did so well learning how to Stay that his owner was shocked, especially when he stayed while we answered the door! Teaching a dog skills to control his impulses is so helpful, and important.
Maisie did great learning how to Go to Place. This skill - going to and lying down on a bed, rug, or mat - can be used to prevent begging, counter surfing, door dashing, and many other things.
